STOCK QUOTES

Description

Explains the components of a stock quote.

Symbol
Displays the symbol and market for the security for which the quote information is displayed. ‘CA’ or ‘US’ is shown to confirm the country where the quote was requested. WebBroker also displays the market centre that provided the quote. Below is the list of identifiers displayed for each market.

Symbol Extensions
A symbol will sometimes have a suffix that provides more information about the type of security it represents. The extensions used differ depending on the exchange where the security trades. For more information, view the Symbol Extensions by Exchange Help page for more information.

T
Displays tick information. This is either + for uptick or - for downtick, or C for no change from previous trade except for the NASDAQ National Market. For NASDAQ National Market quotes, tick indicates whether the last bid was higher, lower or unchanged than the previous bid. An unchanged bid tick will be displayed as -.

Bid
Displays the current Bid price for the requested equity. It is the highest price that a prospective buyer is prepared to pay.

Bid Lots
Displays the number of board lots available on a Bid. The size of the board lot depends on the price of the stock and the market on which it trades.

FSI
FSI refers to Financial Status Indicator and indicates when an issuer has failed to submit its regulatory filings on a timely basis, failed to meet the SEC’s continuing listing standards, and/or filed for bankruptcy. Note that the Financial Status Indicator applies to U.S. listed companies only. For quotes returned from a Canadian exchange, the Financial Status Indicator will always be blank.

Ask
Displays the current Ask price for the requested equity. It is the lowest price that a prospective seller is prepared to accept.

Ask Lots
Displays the number of board lots available on an Ask. The size of the board lot depends on the price of the stock and the market on which it trades.

Last
Displays the last price at which the equity was traded.

Change
Displays the change in price since the close of the previous trading day. The percentage change in price will be displayed in brackets.

Volume
Displays the trading volume for the requested security.

Time
Displays the time of the last trade on the requested security. If the security has not traded today, then the time shown will be from the last session that the security traded. If no time is displayed, then the security has not traded on that market.

Open
Displays the opening trade price for the requested equity.

High
Displays the highest price at which the equity has traded during the current trading session.

Low
Displays the lowest price at which the equity has traded in the current session.

PE
Displays the Price Earnings Ratio for the requested equity. The Price Earning Ratio refers to a common stock’s current market price divided by its last reported annual earnings per share (EPS).

EPS
Displays the Earnings Per Share of the requested equity. Earnings Per share refers to the portion of net income for a period attributable to a single share of a company.

Yield
Displays the yield for the requested equity based on the previous day's closing price. Yield is the projected return on investment for an equity. The yield is calculated by presenting the annual dividend as a percentage of the current market price of the equity.

Div
Displays the amount of the last dividend paid for the requested equity. Dividend is a portion of a company (or mutual fund) profit that is paid to the common or preferred shareholders (or unit holders). The amount may be paid in cash, stock or can be used to purchase more shares (or units).

X-Div
Displays the Ex-dividend (without dividend) date for the requested equity. Indicates the date on which the requested equity trades without dividend. Purchasers that buy the equity on or after this date are not entitled to receive the dividend until the next dividend is declared and paid.

52 Week High
Displays the Year High for the requested equity. The Year High is the highest price at which the equity has been traded in the preceding 52 weeks.

52 Week Low
Displays the Year Low for the requested equity. The Year Low is the lowest price at which the equity has been traded in the preceding 52 weeks.

Market Closed Message
Displayed 6:45 pm ET to 9:30 am ET weekdays and weekends reflecting the last real time equity quotes available. Also displayed for US and/or Canadian Holidays.
