Short-Term Redemption Fee Policy
Funds held for less than 30 days are subject to a short-term redemption fee of 1% of redemption value or
$45 (whichever is greater). This policy applies to all mutual funds offered by TD Waterhouse Discount
Brokerage, with the exception of all Money Market funds and those purchased on a rear load basis.
The majority of mutual fund investors rely on a long term, buy and hold investment approach. Frequent
trading of mutual funds can result in adverse effects on mutual funds and their shareholders due to
increased costs in managing the fund. In addition, short term trading has an administrative cost to
TD Waterhouse, which is not covered in our standard fee structure. Short term redemption fees are
designed to discourage frequent trading in mutual funds and to offset the costs associated with those
trades.
Rear Load Mutual Funds
No commissions apply
to buy or
switch all rear load funds. Purchaser will receive a
rebate of 2.5% of the purchase value. This rebate does not apply to Labour Sponsored Investment
Funds. Commission is charged on full or partial redemptions, according to the fund company's schedule.
Other Mutual Fund Investment Policies
- All orders placed before 3:00 pm Eastern Time will receive that day's closing net asset value for that trade or, in the case of those few funds which price less frequently, the next available trade date.
- When an order is placed through one service (for example, an Investment Representative)
and then changed through a different service (for example, an Electronic Brokerage Service),
the commission charged will be based on the service with the higher commission structure.
- TD Waterhouse receives compensation, in the form of trailer fees, from those mutual fund companies
participating in the no transaction fee and transaction fee programs.
