A new Canadian equity market has opened in Canada. Omega ATS is now available to TD Waterhouse clients along with the Chi-X Canada, Alpha and Pure Trading markets.
These Alternative Trading Systems (ATS) intend to improve the competitiveness and market liquidity in Canadian capital markets.
What is an Alternative Trading System?
In 2001, the Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) gave approval for new marketplaces in Canada which provide alternative marketplaces for the trading of securities.
